Mango lassi is a refreshing treat on a hot summer day, and a reprieve from all that is ordinary!
Background
Lassi, originating from the Punjab region of Northern India and Eastern Pakistan, is a blended drink with yogurt, spices, and fruit, etc. Dating back to 1,000 BC, it is believed to have Ayurvedic healing properties, including calming the stomach and the mind.
Ingredients
- 1 cup chopped mango
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 4 teaspoons honey or sugar, more or less to taste
- Dash ground cardamom (optional)
- 5-10 Naranji whole allspice berries
- Ice (optional)
Instructions
Use a mortar pestle to grind allspice berries into a powder.
Put the mango, yogurt, milk, honey (or sugar), and cardamom into a blender and blend for 2 minutes.
Pour contents into a glass and sprinkle with a tiny pinch of ground allspice to serve.
